Waco, Texas (FOX 44) – In a tragic turn of events, a 46-year-old man who was found shot on Friday afternoon in Waco has sadly passed away. The victim, identified as Tony Alexander, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night. The suspect, 31-year-old Nathan Edward Smith, is currently in custody.
Details of the Incident
Authorities responded to a call in the 2500 block of Summer Avenue at around 3:50 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered Alexander with critical gunshot wounds. Quick action by officers and emergency medical personnel led to Alexander being rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Despite initially being listed in critical condition, Alexander tragically did not survive his injuries.
Suspect in Custody
Early in the investigation, Nathan Edward Smith was identified as the prime suspect in the shooting. He was promptly arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. As of Monday afternoon, Smith remains behind bars at McLennan County Jail with a bond set at $350,000.
