Accident – Death – Obituary News : WOODWAY, Texas (FOX 44) – A man has been apprehended by Woodway Public Safety Department officers for allegedly stealing from the H-E-B plus! store in Woodway. The incident unfolded at 9100 Woodway Drive on a Friday evening, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
The suspect, identified as 56-year-old Harold Clay III, was caught in the act and attempted to flee the scene upon spotting the Woodway patrol unit. In a frantic bid to escape, Clay abandoned his shopping cart and collided with parked vehicles as he made a dash for his own vehicle. However, his escape was short-lived as officers managed to apprehend him after a brief foot chase.
During a subsequent search, methamphetamines were discovered in Clay’s possession, adding a serious drug-related charge to his list of alleged offences. The Woodway Public Safety Director, Khalil El-Halabi, confirmed the arrest and detailed the charges brought against Clay.
Clay now faces charges of Theft Over $100, Under $750; Collision Involving Damage to Vehicle; Evading Arrest/Detention; and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1, specifically Methamphetamine. Following his arrest, Clay was booked into the McLennan County Jail, where his bond has been set at $18,500.
The Woodway Public Safety Department has commended their officers for their swift response and successful apprehension of the suspect. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance in preventing and addressing criminal activities in the community.
