The Brentwood Police Department has reported the arrest of a Concord man, identified as a 5-time felon, on a range of charges.

Incident Details

According to authorities, the incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning, at approximately 2:30 AM. Brentwood officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the 7200 block of Brentwood Blvd. The caller described the driver as wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing, and allegedly attempting to steal mail from a community mailbox. Upon the arrival of police, the vehicle attempted to flee the scene.

Subsequently, the same vehicle was discovered abandoned at the end of Havenwood Avenue. It was later confirmed that the car had been reported stolen from the City of Antioch. Inside the vehicle, officers found a significant amount of stolen mail and burglary tools.

Further Incidents

Later that morning, at around 4:15 AM, another call was received by Dispatch reporting a suspect matching the description of the individual involved in the earlier incident. This time, the suspect was reported to have stolen a package from a porch on Stratford Way.

An officer in the vicinity located the suspect on foot and promptly arrested him. The individual was identified as 35-year-old Gustavo Montanorazo from Concord. Montanorazo, a five-time convicted felon, was found to be in possession of paperwork from the Martinez Detention Facility, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, social security cards, vehicle titles, checks, and keys that did not belong to him.

Charges and Arrest

Montanorazo was taken into custody on a variety of charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short-barreled rifle, identity theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, possession of drugs, petty theft, and other related offences. The passenger in the vehicle was also arrested due to an outstanding warrant.

Authorities believe that the recovery of the firearm, stolen property, and various items in Montanorazo’s possession may have prevented further criminal activity in the city and beyond.

Conclusion

No further information has been released regarding the case at this time. The Brentwood Police Department continues to investigate the matter and ensure the safety of the community.
