A woman in Euless, Texas has been charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child after trying to drown another woman’s three-year-old child at an apartment complex pool, as reported by sources.

The Texas chapter of a Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, CAIR, is urging state and federal law enforcement authorities to look into a potential “hate crime” following an incident involving a woman attempting to harm Muslim children in Euless, Texas.

The disturbing event took place on May 19 at an apartment complex pool in Euless, where witnesses reported a woman, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, 42, who appeared intoxicated, attempting to drown a child and engaging in a heated argument with the child’s mother.

According to reports, Wolf targeted the mother, who was wearing a hijab and modest swimwear, making derogatory remarks about her nationality and ethnicity. Wolf then allegedly tried to grab the woman’s six-year-old son, who managed to escape but suffered minor injuries, before forcibly submerging the woman’s three-year-old daughter underwater.

The young girl was in distress, calling for help and coughing up water, while the mother, with the help of a bystander, managed to rescue her daughter from Wolf’s grasp.

Following the incident, Wolf was arrested for public intoxication, but during her arrest, she reportedly made threatening remarks towards the mother and her family, prompting concerns for their safety.

The mother, known as “Mrs H,” expressed her fear and trauma, stating that her children, who are American citizens of Palestinian descent, are now living in fear due to the incident.

Wolf has since been charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child, as reported by NBC DFW. Authorities are investigating the case further to determine the motive behind the attack.

Shaimaa Zayan, CAIR-Austin Operations Manager, issued a statement calling for a thorough investigation into the incident as a possible hate crime and emphasising the need for increased awareness and action against Islamophobia and discrimination.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the affected family, who have faced financial difficulties as a result of the incident.

The fundraiser aims to provide financial assistance to the family during this challenging time, with donations exceeding $16,000 to date.
