A tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening near Iola in Allen County, Kansas, resulting in the death of a man after the pickup truck he was driving collided with a semitrailer, according to authorities.
The incident took place at 6:55 p.m. on US-169 highway at Minnesota Road, approximately 2 miles south of Iola.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a 2011 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was travelling southbound on US-169 when it veered across the center line and collided with the trailer of a northbound 2015 Volvo semi.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Donald Brian Gaylord, aged 64 and hailing from Magnolia, Texas, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It was noted that Gaylord was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
On the other hand, the driver of the semi, named Luis Alberto Martinez San Miguel, aged 39 and residing in Davenport, Florida, emerged from the incident unscathed. The Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed that San Miguel was also wearing his seat belt during the collision.
Both drivers were alone in their respective vehicles at the time of the collision, as per the patrol’s findings.
