DALLAS, Texas — A 21-year-old individual has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with a tragic shooting incident that took place at a business establishment in Dallas.
On the night of June 22, 2024, at around 12:30 a.m., the Dallas Police Department received a distressing call regarding a shooting incident that occurred at a business located in the 8600 block of Lake June Road. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered that the suspect, identified as Davonta Mathis, aged 21, had entered the premises, approached the counter, and fatally shot 32-year-old Gopi Krishna Dasari. Following the shooting, Mathis proceeded to steal merchandise from the establishment before fleeing the scene.
Mr. Dasari was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he tragically succumbed to his injuries on June 23, 2024. Subsequently, detectives involved in the case obtained a warrant for the arrest of Davonta Mathis on charges of capital murder. Initially, Mathis had been charged with robbery, but in light of Mr. Dasari’s passing, the more serious charge of capital murder has been brought against him.
