Accident – Death – Obituary News : Pune: A shocking incident took place in Hadapsar where a BCom second-year student was arrested by the police for allegedly strangling his 16-year-old sister to death following a dispute over a bedsheet. The tragic event occurred around 2.30 am on June 17 at their residence in Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar while the parents of the siblings were out celebrating Eid.
Initially, the suspect attempted to deceive his parents by claiming that his sister had committed suicide. He informed them that he found her hanging from the ceiling fan and had removed the body. However, inspector Mangal Modhave of the Hadapsar police revealed that a case of accidental death was registered at first. Subsequently, a suo motu complaint was filed against the suspect which led to his arrest.
After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that two days later, the suspect confessed to his parents that he had strangled his sister. The post mortem report confirmed the cause of death as asphyxia, leading to the arrest of the culprit. The family operates a bakery in the area, and the suspect had been working there until late at night.
Upon returning home, the boy found his sister in his room with his clothes scattered all over the place. Exhausted and wanting to rest, he asked his sister for a bedsheet, triggering a heated argument between the siblings. The altercation escalated, and in a fit of rage, the suspect strangled his sister, resulting in her tragic demise.
This heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock and disbelief. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s untimely death.
