Telangana Tribal Woman Kicked, Slapped, Stomped On In Alleged Money Row

Hyderabad:

A 26-year-old tribal woman from Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district was subjected to unimaginable torture in public for a week. She was brutally beaten, had chilli powder rubbed into her eyes and genitals, and was reportedly burned, all stemming from a dispute over missing money that turned violent.

The gruesome incident was captured on video, showing the woman in a pink saree surrounded by a mob of villagers. In one video, she sits motionless while others, particularly a woman in an orange saree with a large stick, shout and scream at her.

Things took a horrifying turn when one man violently grabbed the woman by the neck, forced her to the ground, and stomped on her. Despite efforts to intervene, the young woman was pushed back to the ground by another man who also attempted to tear off her saree.

As tempers flared, chaos erupted with people being hit with wooden sticks. The victim’s ordeal did not end there as a second woman joined in, grabbing her by the hair, wrestling her to the ground, and viciously kicking and slapping her.

After enduring this brutal assault, the woman is currently hospitalized and receiving medical treatment. Four individuals, including Bandi Venkatesh and his wife, along with the victim’s sister and husband, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

Disturbingly, it was revealed by District Superintendent of Police, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, that the videos circulating were recorded at least two days prior to the second assault on the woman.

The root of the dispute reportedly lies in money borrowed by the woman from Bandi Venkatesh in exchange for work on his farm. However, after a disagreement with her sister, she left the farm, prompting Venkatesh to forcefully bring her back.

Telangana Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao personally met with the victim and assured her that justice will be served. He offered her Rs 2 lakh in aid and promised to support her children’s education.

As investigations continue, the shocking incident has sparked outrage and calls for stricter measures to prevent such atrocities from recurring.
