Adwait Sudesh Sharma : Tragic death of Symbiosis student in Pawana Dam: 19-year-old drowns

A heartbreaking incident occurred on Sunday afternoon near Lonavala in Pune district, where a 19-year-old student lost his life in a drowning accident. The victim, identified as Adwait Sudesh Sharma, was a young man from Delhi who was pursuing his education at the prestigious Symbiosis Institute of Design.

According to the Pune rural police, Sharma had gone to the backwater of Pavana dam for a leisure outing with five of his friends. Tragically, the day took a devastating turn when Sharma ventured into the water and failed to assess the depth, leading to his untimely demise.

Upon realising that Sharma was in distress, his friends immediately raised an alarm. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to rescue him in time. It took an hour for a rescue team to locate and retrieve Sharma’s lifeless body from the water.

The incident, which took place around 5pm, left the entire group in shock and grief. The search and recovery operation continued well into the evening, with a team comprising members of a local trekkers’ group and villagers from Lonavala working tirelessly to bring closure to the tragic event.

The loss of a promising young student has sent shockwaves through the academic community and beyond. Symbiosis Institute of Design is mourning the untimely passing of one of its own, and efforts are being made to provide support and comfort to Sharma’s family and friends during this difficult time.
