Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A 27-year-old man hailing from Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district has been taken into custody for allegedly making a false bomb threat against an IndiGo Airlines flight bound for Mumbai, as per reports from news agency PTI.
The individual in question, identified as V Prasanna from Thiruvaiyaru, was apprehended by a team from the Cyber Crime Police Station of Central Crime Branch for his alleged involvement in the incident.
According to authorities, Prasanna communicated the threat to the airline’s Customer Service Centre via a chat on June 18, falsely claiming that a bomb had been planted on a Chennai-Mumbai flight.
This occurrence is just the latest in a series of hoax bomb threats targeting Indian airlines and airports in recent times. Notably, on the same day, 41 airports across India received similar hoax bomb threats via email, resulting in heightened security measures and extensive security checks. Fortunately, no explosives were discovered, and the threats were deemed non-specific.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has recommended a five-year ban on flying for individuals found guilty of instigating hoax bomb threats, citing the significant disruptions these incidents cause to flight schedules and passenger safety.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged with the cyber crime wing, leading to Prasanna being remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.
