Another victim who was injured in a shooting on Friday outside a grocery store in Arkansas has tragically passed away, the police announced on Saturday evening.

The Arkansas State Police revealed that a total of 14 individuals were wounded in the shooting that took place outside a Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas. Among the injured were 11 civilians, two law enforcement officers, and the alleged shooter, identified as 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey, according to a police statement.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday, sending shockwaves through the community.

The deceased victims, all civilians, were identified as Shirley Taylor, aged 62, Callie Weems, aged 23, Roy Sturgis, aged 50, and Ellen Shrum, aged 81.

Seven civilians, comprising five women and two men, managed to survive the shooting. Of these, four individuals remain in the hospital, with one woman in critical condition. Three of the injured civilians were discharged from the hospital on the same day.

Law Enforcement Involvement

Officer James Johnson, aged 31, from the Fordyce Police Department, was released from the hospital on Saturday evening following treatment for a gunshot wound. In addition, Officer John Hudson, aged 24, from the Stuttgart Police Department, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Suspect in Custody

Travis Eugene Posey, a resident of New Edinburg, is set to face four counts of capital murder in connection with the shooting. Furthermore, additional charges are pending as the investigation unfolds.

After engaging in a shootout with law enforcement, Posey received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. He was then handed over to state police custody and transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center.
