Motive Unknown

Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the shooting. A media briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday to provide further updates on the investigation.

Details of the Incident

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce. The small city, located 65 miles south of Little Rock, was left reeling from the tragic events.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as people ran for cover in every direction, seeking safety from the sudden outbreak of violence. Roderick Rogers, a city council member, recounted the frantic moments that followed the initial shots being fired.

Social media footage captured the harrowing aftermath, with images showing bullet holes in the store’s windows and spent shell casings scattered across the parking lot. Emergency responders, including medical helicopters, rushed to the scene to assist the victims.

Previous Incidents

This tragic shooting marks the latest in a series of mass shootings to take place in grocery store settings. In 2022, a white supremacist targeted a Buffalo supermarket, killing 10 Black individuals. Just over a year prior, a similar incident occurred in Boulder, Colorado, where 10 people lost their lives in another senseless act of violence.
