Woman charged in car accident resulting in fatalities, Alamance County deputies report

Driver faces charges after hitting pedestrians in Alamance County.

A 21-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly hitting four individuals with a car, resulting in the death of one person, as reported by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO).

The incident occurred on Friday, just before 10:50 p.m., when deputies and troopers from the NC Highway Patrol responded to a crash on the 2400 block of East Simpson Road in Green Level. Upon arrival, authorities discovered four individuals in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses stated that the driver, identified as Tamyiah Lakerria Anderson, drove to a residence on East Simpson Road where a physical altercation took place before getting into her car and striking the victims. Tragically, 22-year-old Brendy Janet Garcia Resendiz was killed after being dragged by the vehicle, while another victim sustained serious injuries. Two additional victims suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Both the ACSO and NCSHP have filed charges against Anderson, which include:

ACSO Charges:

  • 1 count of 2nd Degree Murder
  • 3 counts of Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill

NCSHP Charges:

  • 1 count of Driving While Impaired
  • 1 count of Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol
  • 1 count of Resist, Delay, Obstruct Officer
  • 1 count of Driving Left of Center
  • 1 count of Seatbelt Violation

Anderson is currently being held without bond in relation to these charges.

As the legal proceedings continue, the community mourns the loss of Brendy Janet Garcia Resendiz and offers support to the other victims affected by this tragic event.
