Two individuals sustained injuries following a boat accident in Carteret County, as reported by the Atlantic Beach Police Department. The incident occurred near the Doubletree Hotel pier around 6 p.m. on Saturday. According to Sgt. Clark, the vessel, with a total of seven occupants, was traveling at a significant speed when it veered ashore.

Subsequently, two individuals from the boat were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Tow Boat US was responsible for re-floating the boat, while the North Carolina Wildlife authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the matter. The response team included the Atlantic Beach Police, Fire Department, EMS, as well as the Pine Knoll Shores Police and Fire Department.

In other news, a tragic event unfolded in Davie County, where a man has been taken into custody for allegedly committing a fatal stabbing. The victim, 62-year-old Mark Dukes, was found deceased in a residence on Gwynn Street in Mocksville. The suspect, Danny Carter, aged 32, has been charged with murder. Carter and Dukes were believed to be acquainted.

Meanwhile, in Greensboro, a fatal collision occurred on I-40 near the East Lee Street exit, claiming the life of a pedestrian from Burlington. The individual was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the eastbound lanes. Another vehicle was involved in a subsequent crash while trying to avoid the initial collision. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed yet.

Over in Asheboro, authorities are actively searching for a man accused of following two young girls to their residence and attempting to break in. The unsettling incident took place on English Street early Friday morning. The girls encountered the man while out walking, and upon noticing a firearm in his car, they promptly fled to a nearby family member’s home.

The suspect, described as a male with short hair, was wearing a black t-shirt with a design and black shorts. The vehicle he was driving is believed to be white, tan, or cream-colored with tinted windows, possibly a Honda or Toyota model. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Asheboro Police Department or Randolph County Crime Stoppers.

Furthermore, a death investigation is underway in Burke County following the discovery of a deceased male in a lake at Lake James State Park. The individual, identified as 76-year-old Presley James, was found floating in the water by park visitors. The Criminal Investigation Division is actively involved in the case.

Emergency crews in Brunswick County recently utilized drones to assist two teenagers stranded on paddleboards nearly 2000 feet offshore from Oak Island. The swift winds and currents hindered their ability to return to shore, prompting the drone intervention.
