ALMA, Kan. (WIBW) – A devastating incident occurred on Saturday night in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, resulting in the untimely death of a man involved in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) crash. The tragic event took place at 28502 Loire Creek Road, approximately 2 miles west of Alma.

According to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 9 p.m. when a UTV was navigating through a field on private property. Unfortunately, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over.

Regrettably, the passenger of the UTV was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Ray G. Palenske, a 74-year-old resident of Lenexa.

In a tragic turn of events, the driver of the UTV, Brian D. Palenske, aged 50 and hailing from Basehor, emerged from the crash unscathed. However, it was noted in the patrol’s crash log that neither occupant of the UTV was wearing a safety restraint at the time of the accident.
