In a shocking incident in Enathu near Adoor, a woman took matters into her own hands to defend her 17-year-old daughter from a drunkard’s sexual harassment. The altercation took place at Nellimukal Junction on Friday evening, leaving the community stunned.
The assailant, identified as 59-year-old Radhakrishna Pillai of Puthenveetil, Mundappally, allegedly misbehaved with the girl as she was getting off the bus after attending her Plus-two classes. The young girl, feeling violated and frightened, immediately called her mother for help.
Upon arriving at the scene, the mother confronted Pillai, who was reportedly standing in a nearby shop. Instead of showing remorse for his actions, Pillai became aggressive and hurled abusive language towards the mother and daughter. In response, the mother, acting in self-defence, delivered a blow to Pillai’s face, causing a major injury.
Authorities have charged Pillai under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for his inappropriate behaviour towards the minor. However, due to the severity of the injury inflicted by the mother, the police are considering charging her under Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
Speaking out about the incident, the girl’s mother stated, “He was furious and charged towards us when we questioned him about his actions towards my daughter. In self-defence, I reacted to protect my child.” She expressed her determination to pursue legal action against Pillai and reassured that they are prepared to face any consequences.
Police have conducted a thorough investigation, including obtaining medical reports from both parties involved. Pillai is currently undergoing a medical check-up and will be presented before the court to answer for his actions. The authorities are carefully considering all aspects of the case before determining the appropriate course of action.
