Accident – Death – Obituary News : Israeli troops fastened an injured Palestinian man to the front of their military vehicle during a raid in the West Bank city of Jenin on Saturday, sparking outrage for using individuals in the occupied territories as human shields.

A video shared on social media depicted a wounded Palestinian man, identified as Mujahed Azmi, lying on the bonnet of a military jeep as it passed by two ambulances. The Israeli military acknowledged the incident, stating that the soldiers deviated from protocol after being fired upon during the raid.

“In the midst of the exchange of fire, one of the suspects was injured and captured,” the military asserted in a statement, referring to Mr Azmi. “In contravention of orders and standard operating procedures, the suspect was taken by the forces while tied on top of a vehicle.”

The family of Mr Azmi asserted that they requested an ambulance for the injured man, but the soldiers opted to strap him to their jeep and drive away. Eventually, he was transferred to the Red Crescent for medical treatment.

The occurrence took place on the same day that a 12-year-old Palestinian boy succumbed to injuries sustained from being shot by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, as reported by Haaretz. The young child was shot in the torso during clashes in El Bireh city the previous week.

Additionally, the Israelis fatally shot two Palestinian men whom they alleged to be militants in Qalqilyah city on Saturday. In the same vicinity, an Israeli man in his sixties was also shot dead, reportedly by Palestinian militants.

The unrest in the occupied West Bank had been escalating leading up to October 7 and has since intensified, with frequent operations by Israeli forces on suspected militants, incursions by Jewish settlers in Palestinian villages, and lethal Palestinian street assaults.

According to the UN, the Israelis have killed at least 480 Palestinians in the West Bank since the conflict in Gaza commenced.

Israel initiated the conflict after Hamas invaded southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 soldiers and civilians and the capture of around 250 individuals. In response, Israel launched airstrikes and ground assaults on the territory, resulting in the deaths of over 37,400 Palestinians and the displacement of nearly the entire population of 2.3 million.

The most recent wave of Israeli airstrikes on Sunday claimed the lives of at least 39 Palestinians in northern Gaza, as reported by Palestinian and hospital sources. Rescue teams were working diligently to locate survivors beneath the debris.

Fadel Naem, director of Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, informed the Associated Press that more than three dozen bodies had been brought to the facility. Israel announced on Saturday that its fighter jets had targeted two Hamas military sites in the Gaza City area, without providing further details.

The fatalities occurred a day after at least 25 individuals were killed in Israeli strikes on tent encampments housing displaced Palestinians, with 50 others sustaining injuries near the southern city of Rafah.

As Israel persisted with its bombardment of Gaza, tens of thousands of people gathered in Tel Aviv to demand new elections and urge Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to secure the release of the hostages. Among the demonstrators were the parents of Naama Levy, an Israeli soldier who celebrated her 20th birthday while in captivity..
