Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Maharashtra law enforcement authorities have apprehended a 39-year-old individual allegedly implicated in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the tragic death of a 19-year-old motorcyclist in Pune on Saturday evening, as per officials’ reports.
The suspect in question has been identified as Mayur Sahebrao Mohite, a resident of Mohitewadi in Pune’s Khed area, and he is the nephew of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA from Khed-Alandi legislative assembly constituency, Dilip Mohite. The victim, Sunil Bhalerao, was a 12th-grade graduate who assisted his family in their tractor business.
According to police reports, the SUV driven by Mohite collided head-on with Bhalerao’s motorcycle on the Pune-Nashik road around 9.25 pm. Mohite was travelling from Khed to Pune, while Bhalerao was en route from Manchar to Kalamb. The accident occurred near Eklahare village in Ambegaon tehsil of Pune district.
Inspector Arun Phuge from the Manchar police station stated, “We have taken the driver of the SUV into custody and have proceeded with necessary medical procedures. The formal arrest process will be completed shortly.” Phuge also confirmed that the police have begun the process of filing charges against the accused, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
Family members of the deceased have alleged that the accused was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. However, the Manchar police have denied these claims.
