Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred near Vellore on Sunday, resulting in the untimely death of a 19-year-old second-year engineering college student. The young student, identified as M. Aswathi from Chennai, was travelling with three friends in an SUV to Yelagiri Hills in Tirupattur district for a holiday getaway. Unfortunately, their journey took a devastating turn when the SUV collided with a goods-laden lorry at Mottur village near the airport on the highway.
The driver of the SUV, K. Vishnu, 19, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and crash into the oncoming lorry. The impact was severe, resulting in significant damage to the SUV and causing injuries to all its occupants. The lorry, carrying a consignment of tiles from Erode to Chennai, was also affected by the collision.
Fortunately, other motorists and patrol police quickly responded to the scene of the accident. The injured students were promptly transported to the Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore for medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff, Aswathi was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The three other injured students are currently being treated as in-patients and are receiving medical care.
The Virinjipuram police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have registered a case regarding the collision. The authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic accident. In the meantime, the mangled remains of the SUV have been removed from the scene, and traffic flow on the affected route has been restored.
