A woman in Florida has been sentenced to five years in prison after her 10-year-old daughter fatally shot a woman during a Memorial Day barbeque in Orlando in 2022.

Lakrisha S. Isaac, 33, pleaded no contest in May to charges of manslaughter and culpable negligence for leaving an unloaded firearm within reach of a minor. The judge granted Isaac 128 days credit for time served and ordered her to be on probation for three years, as well as attend a parenting class upon release.

The tragic incident occurred during a party where an argument between Isaac and the victim, 41-year-old Lashaun Rodgers, escalated into a physical altercation. In a shocking turn of events, Isaac handed her daughter a bag containing a gun, which the child then used to fatally shoot Rodgers.
