A 25-year-old man was attacked and stabbed in the shoulder at the Randall’s Island migrant shelter in New York, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
The incident occurred on Friday night at 8:00 p.m., with the victim being assaulted by two residents of the shelter, identified as brothers Josue Deleon, 19, and Moises Deleon, 27. Both suspects have been charged with assault, as confirmed by the police.
Migrant Shelter Stabbing Incident on Randall’s Island
According to reports from the New York Post, there was a confrontation between two groups at the shelter, which escalated following an earlier stabbing incident on the same day.
The nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspects remains unclear at this time.
This recent stabbing is part of a series of violent attacks that have taken place at the migrant shelter in New York.
Previously, in April, five individuals were arrested by the NYPD for allegedly attacking a man in his bed and injuring a security guard during the altercation.
Recent Incidents at the Migrant Shelter
The five suspects, aged between 20 and 33, were accused of assaulting a man while he was eating in bed late at night. The group surrounded the victim, hitting and scratching him on his head, face, and legs.
All five individuals have been charged with third-degree assault and harassment.
In a separate incident in February, two migrants were arrested at the same shelter for allegedly assaulting a security guard in two different altercations on the same night.
During the first attack, responding officers witnessed the second altercation as one of the migrants began attacking the guard while police were present, as reported by The New York Post.
