JOHNSON COUNTY — A man has confessed to committing a fatal stabbing during a robbery incident that took place in Johnson County. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old John Daniel Crawford Murray, pleaded guilty this week to second-degree intentional murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary in connection with the death of Charles Dillon in October 2021, as confirmed by the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.

The tragic event unfolded just after 11 p.m. on October 21, 2021, when Merriam police were alerted to a stabbing incident near Royalty Way and Kings Cove Drive. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered Dillon, who had sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to them at the scene.

According to authorities, the assailant gained access to Dillon’s apartment and proceeded to inflict multiple stab wounds upon him. Despite no signs of forced entry, the investigation led to the arrest of Murray on November 9, 2021, along with his accomplice Devin Braswell, who was apprehended the following day. Notably, Murray was already in custody in Missouri at the time of the charges, facing allegations related to another violent offence.
