Jelili Ogunbunmi : “Boyfriend Flees Gunman Rapes 18-Year-Old Osun”

An armed man has reportedly sexually assaulted an 18-year-old girl in Adewumi village, Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, on Wednesday evening.

Suspect identified as Jelili Ogunbunmi

The suspect, identified as Jelili Ogunbunmi, allegedly ambushed the victim and her boyfriend at gunpoint before committing the assault. Ogunbunmi, armed with a dane gun, reportedly accosted the couple along a bush path.

Victim Accompanied by Boyfriend

According to sources in the community, the victim, known only as Blessing, was accompanied by her boyfriend, Daniel, on an errand to purchase soft drinks when they were confronted by the gunman. The couple pleaded for mercy, but Ogunbunmi threatened to kill them both. In fear, Daniel fled the scene, leaving Blessing alone with the assailant.

Assault and Threats

Ogunbunmi then allegedly dragged Blessing into the bush and sexually assaulted her. He reportedly threatened to kill her if she called for help, instilling fear and helplessness in the young girl.

Police Involvement and Arrest

Following the harrowing incident, Daniel reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Ogunbunmi. Yemisi Opalola, spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the arrest, stating that the dane gun used in the crime had been recovered. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
