Fourth Person Dies in Tragic Shooting Outside Arkansas Grocery Store
June 23 (UPI) — The devastating mass shooting that took place outside a grocery store in Arkansas on Friday has claimed the life of a fourth victim.
Arkansas State Police announced on Saturday that 81-year-old Ellen Shrum has succumbed to her injuries, joining Callie Weems, Roy Sturgis, and Shirley Taylor as victims of the tragic event at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, located 70 miles south of Little Rock.
Among the survivors of the shooting are five women and two men, ranging from 20 to 65 years old. Unfortunately, one woman remains in critical condition while two police officers also received treatment for their injuries.
The alleged perpetrator, 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey, is currently identified/\” target=\”_blank\”>facing four charges of capital murder, with additional charges pending against him.
Although Posey was injured by police gunfire during the incident, his injuries were not severe, and he is now in custody at the Ouachita County Detention Center.
Authorities responded swiftly to the shooting, with police managing to neutralize the shooter by 11:44 a.m., as confirmed by official reports.
As of 2020, Fordyce had a population of just under 3,400 residents.
