According to witnesses and a police news release reviewed by CNN, a heavily intoxicated woman, later identified as Wolf, allegedly tried to drown the child and engaged in a verbal altercation with the child’s mother. Wolf reportedly questioned the mother’s nationality and made disparaging comments about her American identity.
The child’s mother, who was wearing a hijab and modest swimwear, was supervising her children in the shallow end of the pool when Wolf approached her. Cair, in a statement released on Friday, said that Wolf subjected the mother to racist questioning before attempting to drown the children in the deep end of the pool.
Despite the mother’s attempts to protect her children, Wolf allegedly used the mother’s headscarf to assault her and prevent her from rescuing her daughter, who was submerged underwater. Fortunately, a bystander intervened and rescued the three-year-old, who was coughing up water and calling for help.
After her arrest, Wolf reportedly threatened the mother and her family, further exacerbating the traumatic experience for the victims. Wolf has since posted bail and been released from jail pending the resolution of her case.
