Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A shocking incident in Euless, Texas, has left the community reeling as a woman was charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child after trying to drown another woman’s three-year-old child at an apartment complex pool, according to reports.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Texas chapter is urging state and federal authorities to investigate the incident as a possible hate crime. The organisation has described the incident as a “bias-motivated murder attempt targeting Muslim children” in a recent press release.

The disturbing events unfolded on May 19 when Euless Police officers responded to a call about a disturbance at an apartment complex pool. Witnesses reported that the woman, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, 42, appeared intoxicated and attempted to drown a child while arguing with the child’s mother.

According to reports, Wolf targeted the mother, who was wearing a hijab and modest swimwear, making derogatory remarks about her nationality and ethnicity. The situation escalated when Wolf tried to grab the woman’s six-year-old son, resulting in a physical altercation that ended with Wolf forcing the woman’s three-year-old daughter underwater.

The mother managed to rescue her daughter, who was coughing up water and visibly distressed. A bystander assisted in the rescue, helping to subdue Wolf until authorities arrived and placed her under arrest for public intoxication.

Following the incident, Wolf made threatening remarks towards the mother and her family, prompting concerns for their safety. The mother, identified as “Mrs H,” expressed fear and anxiety about the traumatic experience, highlighting the need for support and justice.

Wolf now faces charges of attempted capital murder and injury to a child, as reported by NBC DFW. CAIR-Austin Operations Manager, Shaimaa Zayan, has called for a thorough investigation into the incident as a hate crime, emphasising the importance of addressing rising Islamophobia and anti-Arab sentiments.

In response to the family’s financial strain caused by the incident, a GoFundMe page has been set up to provide support and assistance. The fundraiser has garnered significant contributions, reflecting the community’s solidarity with the affected family.
