A man has been taken into custody after a shooting incident in Martinsville on Saturday night that resulted in a teenager being critically injured and a man in stable condition.
The Martinsville Police Department, in conjunction with deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a call at approximately 11:53 p.m. on Saturday reporting a shooting in the vicinity of S Home Ave and E South St. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers found two victims – an adult male and a teenage male – both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police officers provided immediate assistance to the victims until the arrival of Morgan County EMS. Both individuals were then taken to a nearby hospital, with the man being in stable condition and transported by ambulance, while the teenager was in critical condition and had to be airlifted.
The Martinsville PD swiftly identified and apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting. The suspect has been named as 21-year-old Damien Hines from Martinsville. At the time of writing, no mugshot of Hines has been released to the public.
During the investigation, it was discovered that a male juvenile was also a victim of the shooting. Fortunately, the juvenile only sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
