Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Less than 48 hours after her arrest, the Atlanta Police Department has released body camera footage of Douglas County probate Judge Christina Peterson being taken into custody outside of Red Martini Restaurant & Lounge on Peachtree Road Northeast. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 20, 2024, following a commotion at the venue.

According to a statement released by an APD spokesperson on Friday, officers responded to a disturbance at the location and found security escorting a female, later identified as 38-year-old Christina Peterson, out of the establishment. Peterson allegedly became aggressive towards the security guard and the responding officer, pushing the officer in the chest multiple times and refusing to cooperate with attempts to obtain her identifying information for processing.

As a result, Peterson was arrested and taken to Fulton County Jail on charges of Simple Battery Against a Police Officer and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer. However, her attorney, Marvin Arrington, believes that the charges will ultimately be dismissed.

Arrington has been reviewing the body camera footage and has raised concerns about inconsistencies in the officer’s statements. For example, while the arrest warrant claims that Peterson struck the officer with a closed fist, the body camera footage only shows her pushing him. Arrington also pointed out that there is no evidence of Peterson assaulting any officers in the video.

According to Arrington, his client was actually trying to intervene in a dispute where a man was attacking a woman outside the venue, not causing a disturbance inside as the police report suggests. He is confident that additional footage from the incident will support Peterson’s innocence.

Following her arrest, Peterson was released on a $5,000 bond with conditions not to contact law enforcement or visit Red Martini. Arrington has sent a spoliation letter to the venue to preserve all evidence related to the incident.

As the case develops, Arrington is urging anyone who may have additional video footage of the incident to come forward to help clear Peterson’s name. He remains optimistic that the charges against his client will be dropped, allowing her to be exonerated.

Conclusion

The arrest of Judge Christina Peterson has raised questions about the events that led to her being taken into custody. With her attorney’s belief that the charges will be dismissed and ongoing investigations into the incident, the full story behind Peterson’s arrest is yet to be revealed.
