Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Atlanta police have released bodycam footage showing the arrest of Douglas County Probate Judge Christina Peterson after she allegedly struck an officer outside a nightclub on Thursday.

The incident took place at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge where an Atlanta police officer, working an approved extra job, intervened in a commotion involving Peterson. The officer attempted to de-escalate the situation, but Peterson reportedly rushed towards the commotion and started screaming at the security guard and the officer.

In the bodycam footage, Peterson can be seen pushing the officer in the chest and yelling expletives. The officer tried to assist a female being escorted out of the venue, but Peterson allegedly refused to cooperate and pushed the officer a second time before being taken into custody.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, Peterson continued to resist and curse at the officer even after being taken into custody. She was eventually charged with simple battery against a police officer and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Following the incident, Peterson’s attorney, Marvin Arrington Jr., held a press conference where he claimed that Peterson was trying to defend a woman who was being attacked by an unknown man outside the lounge. The woman, Alexandria Love, corroborated this account during the press conference.

Arrington has called on the lounge to release surveillance footage of the incident, stating that Peterson should never have been arrested based on eyewitness testimonies and video evidence.

Peterson’s legal troubles come after a Judicial Qualifications Commission panel found her guilty of “systemic incompetence” in April and recommended her removal from office. The panel cited multiple instances of misconduct, including failure to perform her duties, disregarding courthouse rules, mistreatment of courthouse staff, and inappropriate social media behavior.

Peterson’s fate as a judge now rests with the Georgia Supreme Court, which will review the panel’s recommendation at a later date.
