In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Woodhull, an Allegany County man has been arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting on Saturday morning. The suspect, identified as Bradly J. Maddalena, 24, of Wellsville, allegedly shot and killed 57-year-old Wayne E. Mosher during an altercation on County Route 101 in Woodhull.

The incident came to light when Maddalena called 911 at approximately 8:44 a.m. on June 22 to report that he had shot and killed a man. Deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. The victim, Wayne E. Mosher, was a resident of County Route 101 in Woodhull.

Following the 911 call, the Steuben County Evidence Collection Team spent 20 hours processing multiple scenes related to the incident. Investigators applied for and obtained several search warrants, conducted numerous interviews, and meticulously gathered all relevant information to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Mosher’s death. The investigation ultimately concluded that Maddalena had intentionally caused Mosher’s death using a firearm.

Suspect Charged with Second-Degree Murder

Bradly J. Maddalena was formally charged with second-degree murder, a class A felony, in connection with the shooting. The suspect appeared in the Centralized Arraignment Court, where the charges were read to him. Following the court appearance, Maddalena was remanded to the Steuben County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.

The arrest of Maddalena was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Woodhull Volunteer Fire Department, the Steuben Emergency Management Office, and the New York State Police Department, who provided valuable assistance to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.
