Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A male individual has been detained on various drug-related allegations following an encounter with deputies at a self-storage establishment in Williamson County.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies spotted a dubious vehicle at a shuttered self-storage facility on W. Main Street in Marion, Illinois, shortly after midnight on Monday, June 17. Upon approaching the scene, the driver claimed he was depositing items at the facility for storage.

The driver, later identified as William J. Marks, informed the deputies that he had rented the unit he was attempting to access. However, upon inspection, the deputies noticed that his key did not fit either of the units he purportedly rented. Additionally, Marks seemed to lack reasonable items to deposit during the late hours of the night.

During their inquiry, the deputies discovered that Marks possessed a suspended driver’s license. A search of his vehicle revealed an illicit controlled substance, narcotics packaging materials, and numerous containers/baggies containing a white, crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Consequently, Marks was charged with meth possession, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid license, and driving with a suspended license.

He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Williamson Co. Jail.

Individuals with any relevant information regarding this incident are urged to contact the Williamson Co. Sheriff’s Office at (618) 997-6541.
