A devastating incident unfolded in Greensboro as a 31-year-old pedestrian lost his life in a fatal collision on Interstate 40 East. The Greensboro Police Department responded to the tragic scene near the East Lee Street exit on Friday night around 9:55 p.m.

Details of the Incident

According to authorities, the victim, hailing from Burlington, was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes when he was struck by a Mercedes-Benz SUV. The impact of the collision proved fatal, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, the identity of the deceased has not been disclosed.

Additionally, a Mazda 3 was trailing behind the SUV at the time of the incident. The driver of the Mazda attempted to avoid the collision but ended up overcorrecting, veering off the roadway, and colliding with the guardrail on the outer shoulder. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported among the motorists involved in the tragic event.
