Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded in Mira Road, where a five-year-old boy named Shreyansh Soni lost his life after falling into an open pit dug up for a biogas project by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. The heartbreaking incident occurred on Friday evening when Shreyansh was playing in a garden behind his house. His father, Monu, who runs a pan shop in Dadar, received a distressing call from his wife, Pooja, informing him that their son was missing.
Shreyansh, a junior kindergarten student, had returned home from school around noon and later informed his mother that he was going to play in Jijamata Udyan garden. However, when he failed to return home, Pooja started searching for him. Monu rushed home upon receiving the news and was informed by Pooja that Shreyansh had been found in a pit of water near the garden.
The pit, which had been left unattended for two years after being dug up for a biogas project, had accumulated water, posing a grave danger to unsuspecting individuals like Shreyansh. Monu expressed his frustration at the lack of safety measures taken by the municipal corporation, stating that if the area around the pit had been cordoned off, his son’s tragic accident could have been prevented.
Following the incident, the Kashimira police recorded Monu’s statement and registered a case of negligence under Section 304 (A) of the IPC against unknown persons, believed to be municipal officials responsible for the pit. Senior police inspector Rajendra Kamble assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to identify the individuals accountable for the negligence.
