On Friday at 8:13 p.m., law enforcement officials were alerted by park visitors who had come across an individual floating in the water at the park.
Upon closer examination, the victim was identified as Presley Junior Jaynes, aged 76. The Criminal Investigation Division was promptly summoned to the scene, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Responding to the incident were multiple agencies including the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, Burke County Rescue Squad, Burke County EMS, and Longtown Volunteer Fire Department First Responders, who provided assistance to the Lake James State Park Rangers already present at the scene.
