A tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning in Osceola County, Florida, resulting in the death of a semitruck driver. The crash, which involved two big rigs, took place on U.S. Highway 441, leading to a complete roadblock of the busy roadway, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 7:17 a.m. south of State Road 60. A preliminary crash report from the FHP revealed that one semitruck was heading south on U.S. 441 while the other was travelling north. The driver of the northbound semitruck inexplicably veered into the southbound lane, causing the driver of the southbound semitruck to swerve in an attempt to avoid a collision.
Tragically, the front left of the northbound semitruck collided with the front left of the other vehicle, causing both trucks to run off the roadway and overturn in the wood line. The northbound semitruck came to rest on its roof, while the southbound big rig ended up on its right side, according to the FHP report.
Regrettably, the driver of the northbound semitruck was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 28-year-old man from Orlando, emerged from the crash unharmed. The identity of the deceased driver is currently pending confirmation by the authorities.
Following the collision, a roadblock was put in place for both directions of travel on U.S. 441 in the vicinity of the crash site. The Florida Highway Patrol is actively investigating the incident to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
