KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — Tragedy struck on Friday in rural Miami County when a Wichita woman lost her life in a two-vehicle crash. The incident occurred just before 11:20 a.m. on U.S. 169 Highway, between Crescent Hill Road and Bethel Church Road.
According to the authorities, the driver of a red 2013 Mazda 3 was travelling northbound on U.S. 169 when she attempted to overtake a vehicle and a tractor-trailer. Unfortunately, this manoeuvre resulted in a head-on collision with a gray 2016 Chevrolet Equinox.
The driver of the Mazda, identified as 36-year-old Natalie Dawn Lober O’Leary of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Equinox, both driver and passenger, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, as confirmed by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
