Accident – Death – Obituary News : Workers in Gurgaon’s Sector-35 took to the streets in protest and even resorted to pelting stones after a tragic incident that claimed the life of a migrant labourer. The victim, identified as Monu, a 24-year-old worker hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, met with a fatal accident while a bus was being reversed in the area on Saturday.
According to the police spokesperson ASI Sandeep, upon receiving information about the accident, a police team rushed to the spot. The authorities were alerted about the escalating agitation, leading to the arrival of Siddhant Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), at the scene to assess the situation.
An eyewitness at the accident site recounted the harrowing events, stating, “Around 8.20 am, the company bus arrived with employees, and all employees alighted from the bus. Monu also alighted from the bus and was walking towards me. Suddenly, the bus driver, due to negligence, reversed the bus at high speed and hit Monu. Monu fell, and the bus tyre ran over him, causing his immediate death.”
Videos of the aftermath of the accident circulated widely, showing individuals vandalising buses and vehicles in the vicinity. The police revealed that the bus driver fled the scene following the incident. A case has been registered at Badshahpur police station under IPC Sections 279 (driving a vehicle in a negligent manner) and 304A (causing death by a rash or negligent act).
The police assured that the situation at the accident site is now peaceful and under control. As per protocol, a post-mortem examination of the deceased Monu will be conducted, and his body will be handed over to his family. The bus driver responsible for the accident has been identified, with police teams deployed to apprehend him for legal proceedings.
The incident has prompted outrage among the community, highlighting the need for stringent safety measures and accountability in the transportation sector. The tragic loss of Monu serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritising road safety and adhering to traffic regulations to prevent such devastating accidents in the future..
