Gurugram: A police officer sustained injuries, and more than a dozen vehicles, including a police emergency response car, were damaged during a violent incident that erupted in Gurugram’s Sector 35 on Saturday morning, as per police reports.
According to authorities, the turmoil started outside an automotive manufacturing plant in Sector 35 following the tragic death of a worker, reportedly run over by a factory bus. The incident took place around 8:30 am near the entrance of the factory.
The deceased, identified as Monu Kumar, a 24-year-old from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was standing behind the bus when the driver reversed, resulting in his fatal injury.
“The workers were still holding onto the body and had not handed it over to the police for examination. They have kept it within the confines of the factory. We were attempting to calm them down to open the factory gates for entry,” stated Siddhant Jain, deputy commissioner of police (south), according to the Hindustan Times.
Jain mentioned that a sub-inspector sustained injuries due to stone-throwing by enraged factory workers. Subsequent to the incident, the bus driver, as well as the factory’s security guards and officials, absconded from the scene.
Jain also disclosed that approximately 150 police personnel and fire engines were dispatched to uphold law and order at the location.
