HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. — The tranquil community of Harrison County was rocked by tragedy on Friday evening as State Police launched an investigation into a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals and left another injured.

The harrowing incident unfolded when authorities received a distressing 9-1-1 call at approximately 6 p.m., prompting a rapid response to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his arm. The wounded individual has been identified as 56-year-old Marion Young and was swiftly transported to University Hospital in Louisville for urgent medical attention. Fortunately, Young’s injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

Further exploration of the premises led to the grim discovery of two lifeless bodies, identified as 84-year-old Donald Weaver and 82-year-old Virginia Scofield, located outside the rear entrance of a residence on Mosquito Creek Road. Shockingly, it was revealed that Scofield was the mother of the injured party, Young.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a heated altercation erupted between Weaver and Young, culminating in the tragic shooting. It is believed that Weaver discharged a firearm at Young, causing the arm injury, before proceeding to fatally shoot Scofield and subsequently take his own life.
