A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Vaughan, Ontario on Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of a toddler and a 40-year-old individual. The shooting, described by authorities as a “targeted incident,” took place at a residence on Casa Nova Drive, near Major MacKenzie Drive and Weston Road.
Police Response and Victims
Law enforcement officers rushed to the scene shortly before 9 a.m. and discovered four individuals inside the home with gunshot wounds. Tragically, one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two additional victims were also transported with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Victims identified
In a devastating update provided the following day, authorities confirmed the identities of the deceased as two-year-old Marcus Vu and 40-year-old Thi Trang Do. The specific circumstances of their passing were not disclosed, but it was revealed that the other two victims are currently in stable condition.
Suspect Apprehended
Following intensive investigations, 41-year-old Van Viet Duong from Toronto was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in relation to the shooting. While the exact nature of Duong’s relationship with the victims remains undisclosed, authorities assert that the incident was targeted in nature.
