Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Thiruvottriyur Police have made a significant arrest in a tragic case that has shocked the community. A 20-year-old individual has been taken into custody for the alleged murder of his mother and younger brother at their residence two days ago. The double homicide remained undiscovered until a WhatsApp message was received by a relative of the victims, shedding light on the horrifying events that had taken place.

The victims have been identified as M. Padma, a 45-year-old acupuncture therapist, and her 14-year-old son, M. Sanjay, a student in the 10th grade. Padma’s elder son, M. Nithesh, is currently pursuing his studies at a college in the city, while her husband, Murugan, works as a crane operator in Oman. The family resided in Thirunagar First Street, Thiruvottriyur, where the tragic incident occurred.

According to police sources, Padma’s niece, Mahalakshmi, received a distressing WhatsApp message from her cousin Nithesh in the early hours of Saturday. In the message, Nithesh informed her that he had left his home, leaving behind his mobile phone and house key in a bag near the premises. Concerned by the unusual communication, Mahalakshmi went to investigate and made a horrifying discovery upon entering the house. The bodies of Padma and Sanjay were found with their heads severed and covered in plastic bags, prompting Mahalakshmi to contact the authorities immediately.

Upon notification, the Thiruvottriyur police promptly arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies for further investigation. Nithesh, who was initially unaccounted for, was later located by authorities sleeping on the beach in Thiruvottriyur. He was subsequently taken into custody for questioning, during which a disturbing motive for the crime emerged.

During interrogation, Nithesh revealed that his actions were a result of mounting academic pressure and familial tensions. He disclosed that his mother’s constant admonishments over his academic performance, coupled with financial stress within the family, had driven him to commit the heinous act. Nithesh also confessed to contemplating suicide following the murders but ultimately abandoned the plan out of fear.

In a chilling revelation, Nithesh disclosed that after the brutal killings, he had nonchalantly gone to watch a film at a nearby theatre with friends before aimlessly wandering the beach. The gravity of his actions only seemed to sink in as he lay down to rest, leading to his apprehension by the authorities.
