Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The man who was discovered dead in the Interior region of British Columbia last weekend has been identified by police as Donald “Donnie” Lyons. Princeton Mounties were alerted to a report of gunfire at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, prompting a response from the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit. Upon arrival, law enforcement found an unresponsive individual in a driveway along Princeton Summerland Road, who was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have confirmed that the victim was 51-year-old Lyons and have classified his death as suspicious. Based on their initial findings, the RCMP believe that the shooting was a targeted incident, reassuring the public that there is no immediate threat to safety.

According to online court records, Lyons was affiliated with the Independent Soldiers gang and had a criminal history involving weapons and narcotics-related offences. A 2012 ruling by the B.C. Supreme Court sheds light on his past, detailing a six-year prison sentence he was serving for drug trafficking and possession of illegal weapons. The court document describes Lyons as a prominent figure within the criminal organization, despite his claims of disassociation.

Legal Troubles

Public records reveal that Lyons was set to stand trial for assault charges in Princeton scheduled for September. Additionally, he had a pending court appearance in Kelowna for uttering threats in January, where he failed to appear, leading to a warrant for his arrest.

Appeal for Information

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Lyons’ death to come forward. In particular, they are seeking dash camera footage from vehicles travelling along Princeton Summerland Road between 1 and 3 p.m. on June 15. Individuals who may have witnessed any suspicious activity are encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 1-877-987-8477.

By providing more detail and context surrounding the incident and the victim, law enforcement is hopeful that the investigation will progress and lead to a resolution in the case of Donald “Donnie” Lyons.
