TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee Police Department has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a shooting incident at the Griffin Heights Apartments. Three men have been arrested in connection to the incident, which tragically resulted in the death of one woman and left another seriously injured.
The City of Tallahassee released a press statement on Saturday announcing the arrests. The three suspects, identified as Antwan Muhammed, 33, Jimail Cooper, 31, and Reginald Mims, 23, are facing charges including first-degree felony murder, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to the investigation conducted by the Tallahassee Police Department, the suspects arrived at the Griffin Heights Apartments armed and deliberately opened fire on a group of people. The shooting was targeted at an individual with whom the suspects had a dispute over illegal drugs.
Tragically, the shooting took place in an open area, resulting in two innocent women being caught in the crossfire. One of the women, identified as 33-year-old Ashley Emanuel, succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The second woman, who was also injured in the incident, is expected to recover.
The press release from the City of Tallahassee highlighted that the diligent efforts of law enforcement officers, along with physical evidence and witness statements, enabled detectives to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the heinous crime.
Following a meeting with the State Attorney’s Office, warrants for first-degree murder were obtained for all three suspects. The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing justice for the victims.
