In a dramatic turn of events, a burglary suspect led police on a high-speed chase that culminated in Rowlett, Texas on Friday afternoon. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Andrew Blessed from Kaufman County, Texas, managed to evade authorities for a period of time before being apprehended.

Police Response

Rowlett PD officers were called to assist Kaufman County Constables at 1:15 p.m. in response to a burglary of habitation in progress. The situation escalated quickly as the suspect attempted to flee the scene in a stolen rental truck, leading officers on a chase that ended at the 8400 block of Sunset Blvd.

Standoff at Apartment Complex

Upon reaching an apartment complex near Sunset Blvd, Blessed crashed the truck into the entry of the parking garage. He then made his way to his girlfriend’s apartment, where he barricaded himself inside along with his girlfriend. Knowing Blessed to be dangerous and potentially violent, officers worked tirelessly to negotiate a peaceful resolution.

SWAT Intervention

Due to the escalating nature of the standoff, Rockwall PD SWAT and Rowlett PD SWAT were called in to assist. After hours of negotiations, it was decided that the door would be breached to gain entry. Blessed was successfully taken into custody without further incident, and his girlfriend was found unharmed.

Legal Consequences

Following his arrest, Blessed was transferred back to Kaufman County where he faces a total of five felony charges, one misdemeanor charge, and two felony bond revocation charges. Despite the damage caused during the incident, his girlfriend was provided with accommodation at a local hotel, courtesy of the Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).
