A devastating incident in Merrill, Wisconsin has left the community in mourning as a 55-year-old man tragically lost his life following a collision between his motorcycle and a van. The fatal accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the untimely death of the motorcyclist due to the severity of his injuries.
According to reports from the authorities, the collision took place at a busy intersection where an 88-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a van travelling west on County Highway Q. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist and his passenger were heading north on County Highway K. As the van attempted to make a left turn onto County Highway K, the motorcycle collided with the vehicle, leaving the rider with little time to react.
Tragically, the motorcyclist, identified as Robert Dungan from McAlester, Oklahoma, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. His wife, April Dungan, who was also on the motorcycle, was rushed to UW Madison Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The intersection of County Highway K and County Highway Q was closed off for approximately two hours following the tragic incident, as authorities worked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and clear the area.
