Accident – Death – Obituary News : Texas authorities have apprehended a 17-year-old suspect in connection to the tragic Juneteenth shooting that took place in Round Rock, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuring 14 others, including children. Ricky Thompson III, hailing from Manor, Texas, was arrested around 7:30 am on Thursday and has been charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as confirmed by Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks.

During a press conference, Chief Banks revealed that Thompson was not acting alone in the shooting, and law enforcement is actively seeking out additional suspects involved in the incident. While Thompson currently faces charges of aggravated assault, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of upgrading the charges to include murder as the investigation progresses.

The two victims of the shooting have been identified as Lyndsey Vicknair, aged 33, and Ara Duke, aged 52, both mothers from the Round Rock community. In addition to the fatalities, fourteen individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

“We have a substantial amount of evidence and investigative work ahead of us to ensure that we can deliver the justice these families rightfully deserve,” stated Chief Banks. “Our commitment is to diligently pursue every lead and piece of information to bring closure to the victims and their loved ones, as well as the wider community.”

The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 10:50 pm near the vendor area at the Juneteenth festival held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, where a confrontation erupted between two groups. Notably, the victims were bystanders and not directly involved in the altercation, according to Chief Banks.

Ricky Thompson is identified as a student enrolled at Manor Independent School District, as per a statement issued by the district’s superintendent. The Round Rock Police Department has urged anyone in possession of video footage or information related to the shooting to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation by contacting them at (512) 218-5500.

The Round Rock community is reeling from the senseless violence that marred the Juneteenth celebration, with authorities and residents alike banding together to seek justice for the victims and their families.
