PIKE COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A devastating incident unfolded in Pike County on Thursday evening, resulting in the untimely death of 38-year-old Joseph Wilburn from Curryville, Missouri. Wilburn tragically lost his life after being ejected from his motorcycle during a fatal crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the fatal crash occurred just before 8 p.m. on US-54 at South Locust Street. Wilburn was riding northbound on South Locust on a Hi-Bird motorcycle when he disregarded a stop sign and was subsequently struck by a car travelling eastbound on US-54. The impact caused Wilburn to be ejected from his motorcycle, and he was then hit by a truck travelling in the opposite direction, westbound.
Following the horrific collision, Wilburn was rushed to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where he was later pronounced dead. The entire community of Pike County mourns the loss of Joseph Wilburn, a beloved member of the local community.
