A manslaughter suspect who was arrested in relation to the death of a 66-year-old woman from the Shuswap region in British Columbia has been released from custody, according to a public notice issued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

The victim, identified as Jo Ann Jackson, was discovered unresponsive in the driveway of a mobile home in Sicamous during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Following the discovery of the victim, the Sicamous RCMP located a suspect in the vicinity and took him into custody. However, the suspect has since been released without any charges being laid.

Investigation ongoing

Although Jackson’s death is believed to be an isolated incident, authorities are concerned about potential public safety risks. As a result, the police are implementing additional measures within their authority to address these concerns.

The suspect has been released under a set of protective conditions, one of which includes staying away from the mobile home park where the incident occurred, located at 1707 Hillier Rd.

The investigation into the senior woman’s death is ongoing, and the RCMP is urging anyone with information or video footage captured between 1 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the area from Hillier Road to the Trans Canada highway to come forward and contact the RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit at 1-877-987-8477.
