Jesus Puebla : “Trucker sentenced for deadly crash”

In a tragic turn of events, a semitruck driver, Jesus Puebla, has been sentenced to 11 years in the Department of Corrections with a mandatory three-year parole period after causing a fatal crash on Interstate 25. The incident involved an SUV carrying a Wyoming family and resulted in multiple fatalities.

Puebla, 27, was found guilty of five counts of vehicular homicide, along with additional charges including vehicular assault, careless driving, reckless driving, commercial vehicle safety violation, and driving without a commercial license. The jury delivered the verdict in March, and Puebla pleaded not guilty to the charges in June 2023.

The victims of the tragic crash were identified as Emiliano and Christina Godines, ages 51 and 47, their 3-month-old grandchild, Tessleigh, and her 20-year-old parents, Aaron Godines and Halie Everts. The family had been celebrating a birthday in Denver and was on their way back to Wyoming when the incident occurred.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Puebla did not possess a valid commercial driver’s license at the time of the crash, and witnesses reported his aggressive driving behavior leading up to the collision. Police records revealed that the truck was traveling at 76 mph before striking the family’s SUV, which was moving at around 10 mph.
