Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A 23-year-old woman from Waco, Texas, identified as Jamelia Tiller, was arrested for driving under the influence with four young children in the vehicle, according to an affidavit.

The incident took place on June 21 when police officers on patrol near Towne Oaks Drive and Sanger Avenue observed a vehicle driven by Tiller stopping past the stop line at a red light, almost entering the intersection, the affidavit states.

Upon the light turning green, Tiller allegedly remained stationary for several seconds before proceeding eastbound onto Sanger Avenue, where she once again failed to stop at a stop line, this time at the intersection of Sanger Avenue and North Valley Mills Drive.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Tiller’s vehicle in the 4600 block of Sanger Avenue and approached the driver, Tiller. Upon contact, officers detected the smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and the four children inside, three of whom were not properly secured in the back seat.

Furthermore, officers noted that Tiller exhibited signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and impaired motor skills when attempting to retrieve her license. Tiller also allegedly provided incorrect responses to police inquiries.

When asked about her destination, Tiller reportedly mentioned the 5100 block of Sanger, even though she was driving in the opposite direction. Subsequently, officers asked Tiller to exit the vehicle for a DWI investigation.

During the investigation, officers observed Tiller struggling to maintain balance while walking and standing, in addition to displaying other signs of impairment. Following further tests, Tiller was determined to be intoxicated while operating the vehicle.

Upon arrival at the McLennan County Jail, Tiller consented to provide breath samples, which revealed blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels of 0.225 and 0.212, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Tiller was subsequently booked into the McLennan County Jail on a $5,000 bond for the charge of driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years old.
